Kang Deezy
Overall Nice Guy
This is a stacked division with a lot of star power. 4 of the 5 teams could possibly be in the playoffs. Lots of starpower here too.
Atlantic Division Standings Predictions
1. Boston
2. Philadelphia
3. New York
4. Brooklyn
5. Toronto
BOSTON: What was looking like a possible rebuilding year has taken the opposite turn and gone into a all in championship run. They've resigned KG, but aside from that gotten much younger. Terry is up there and age with Pierce and KG, but he will be an excellent addition off the bench for the team and an upgrade over Ray Allen in my opinion due to his playmaking ability and ability to create his own shot. Courtney Lee is another really solid addition, and it'll be interesting to see if he can keep the starting spot when Bradley comes back. Rondo will be in the top 5 for MVP voting this season. Sullinger will contribute this year. The return of Jeff Green really makes this team scary deep. Really good big man depth too with Green, KG, Bass, Wilcox, Darko, Collins, Sullinger, and Fab Melo. You have Paul Pierce with Jeff Green as his backup and a four guard rotation consisting of Rondo-Lee-Terry-Bradley. This team is poised for a ECF rematch with Miami.
PHILADELPHIA: Philly is gonna be that same young scrappy team that nobody wants to play except now they have added Bynum that'll give them a legit inside presence in a half court offense that'll make them even scarier. Iguodala is and will probably always be a better defensive player, but Turner has the potential to be a special offensive player.
NEW YORK: They've had the right idea with adding older veteran players to at least fool their fans into thinking they're contenders but I just can't see it. Felton and Stoudamire have proven to be a good pairing in the past, but will they be able to continue that with Melo involved? J Kidd will be good in a backup role but I would have rather see him mentoring Lin than an unmotivated Felton. Camby, and Kidd are nice additions, but if either of them along with Sheed have to be counted out for any significant minutes, then New York may not make the playoffs. Shumpert getting back on the court and healthy is gonna be a big deal for this team.
BROOKLYN: It pained me to put New York so high, but in reality, Brooklyn basically brought back the same exact team that SUCKED last year, and added what? Joe Johnson and Teletovic? I probably like Joe Johnson more than most people, but I don't think he puts them over the top. I know people think the Brooklyn offer was better than what the Magic ended up getting for Dwight, but you can't blame the Magic for wanting no part of a max contract Brook Lopez. I'll always argue that the Magic could have gotten a much better haul, but no package including Brook Lopez at that money makes any kind of sense for a team going into a rebuild.
TORONTO: You add Lowry, and Fields through trade and free agency and are solid pickups. Lowry is a great value in the league because he's proven he's capable of playing at a high level and is on an extremely affordable contract. Fields is probably a bit overpaid but definitly a good glue guy. Valanciunus is gonna be a good one, but it might take a year. Bargnani would benefit bigtime if Jonas can take over the center spot. Derozan? I'm on the fence on him but a move to sf should benefit him. Terrence Ross was a reach in the top 10, but based on his skillset, he should be a good fit for them offensively. There be some interesting battles for the starting sg spot (Fields, Ross) and pf (Valanciunis, Davis, Johnson) in training camp. I could also see Lucas III taking the backup point guard spot from Calderon.
