So over a year ago I tried to join the navy, but I was told I had too many traffic citations (I had 11, but very minor. Worst I had was driving on suspended license, which was dismissed in court. None of them were over 300 either). So at first I'm thinking that's it...but through research I'm finding that with 6 or more you'd need a waiver...so I'm like :shaq2:...I'm thinking dude must of sized me up wrong or something (I admitted to some marihuana usage in the past; but I was clean at the time I went, and would of easily passed a drug test. Yeah yeah I shouldn't of said anything, but I thought it would be better to be honest, foolishly. Anyway...)

So presently, I'm about to have my associates after next semester, and my bachelors in about 1.5-2 years...I'm considering trying one last time after I get my bachelors. One ticket has came off my record leaving me at 10, but hopefully more come off as I get the degree (and I keep from getting any more tickets, of course). So my question is, what do you think my odds would be of getting in if I keep a good gpa? I have no felonies or misdemeanors, and I'll probably wind up going to a different recruiter (though I'm sure the same guy won't be there in 2 years, or even now for that matter)....also, I was going to go enlisted; I don't think is get into ocs, no would it be worth it for me personally...

Why get a degree and go enlisted....?

Why not try and get the waiver?

Well I figured it'd be a waste of time seeing that I'd have so much against me (young 18-21 year olds; I'm just turning 30.) plus from what I gather they want like, "the cream of the crop". I mean I ain't no screw up, but there's probably waaay more qualified folk ahead of me..plus I really only want to do 3-4 years...

Yessir 11...that really ain't much; there's people joining the military with way more than that..

I mean, I guess I could try with my associates; but I figured I'd get a better deal with the bachelors. I would of tried to get it before (the waiver), but the recruiter just made it seem like I can't get in and that's it...

how old are you and if you bout to have a degree DO NOT GO ENLISTED
I just turned 30...plus I don't think I have the personality to have such a demanding job. Also, I hear you really won't get respect as a butter bar if you don't have any experience...

So basically ocs is the way to go...but you would have to be picked though right? So if I don't get selected I'd just have to go enlisted...?

But wouldn't you have to so like 20 years for retirement?

99 percent of the horror stories regarding military come from enlisted. As an officer your pay will be :cook: :eat: and you'll have say in what you actually do. Promotions are good. Captain around 4 years and Major around 13..You'd want to retire breh. You hear about prior service with technical skills getting great jobs. What do you think the private sector offers former Officers within the military service? :win:

Take care of what you need to and you should be fine.

How is your physical fitness and what is your degree in?
