Ok, we have a bunch of Nas news today, so pay attention. This year marks the 20th Anniversary of Illmatic, so you already know this is going to be a major talking point for the next several months, or at the very least until theReady To Die anniversary rolls around in September. In celebration of the 2 decade anniversary of his seminal debut LP, Mr. Jones is dropping a new reissue called Illmatic XX which will be a double-disc LP with a completely remastered edition of the album as well as several rarities and remixes.
You can stream one of those remixes here right now.
In addition to the April 15th album release, Nasir will also be releasing Time Is Illmatic, a feature length documentary examining the classic debut from producers One9 and Erik Parker.
Finally, Nas will kick off a national tour this Spring with performances at the John F. Kennedy Center and Coachella. Throughout the tour, the details of which will be available soon, he will perform Illmatic in its entirety.
But there’s one more thing: At the Hennessy Super Bowl Party the other night, Nas told Complex that he hopes to drop “Sinatra In The Sands”, his collaboration with Timbaland, Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z, within the next 6 months.
Pre-order Illmatic XX here or here.
