Don't Believe the Hype
After one full listen, I liked it. It's amazing how Nas, after over 30 years, still sounds the same (compliment). Some rappers haven't taken care of themselves and they just sound rough on wax.

Here's my thing: the producetion was cool. Everything was good, but I just don't love Hit-Boy the way some people do. I dunno. My $0.02 USD

I want that Nas / Primo album.

Black Magic is :wow: bringing the Hate Me Now energy on verse 2

"No good deed goes unpunished
It's the bummiest dummies, life got bad luck in abundance
Look how happy these lames be whenever lies get slung at
The God, why they so angry like they wishing they can just run with
Anything when it comes to Nas?
The desperation it shows, Devil is inside of you
Black smoke, black magic on your back, it's riding you
If I was you, I would watch who I give my power to
I don't make no coward moves"

So buying this from Nas site doesn't count as a sale anymore?

Is it only mainstream sites like Apple/Amazon? What if I want to buy the FLAC version and get it from here, will it count?

50 sounding so washed isn't really a shock...he's gotten :flabbynsick: so his breath control is gone but beyond that, he never really had an artistic or ambitious approach to the rap game to begin with...it was just a means to an end that he just happened to be really good at, so of course his craft would get worse.

Imma be honest, this the only track where Hov smoked Nas.
:hubie:

quote from another thread (in reference to BBC) the reason why jay and nas verses are so polar opposite is because nas freestyled his verse and jay "wrote" his

i pointed out that the retail tracklist is different than the uploads to mass appeal and nas youtube

motion being track 1 is a better start imo

Not going to shyt on Hit for this. He's played a huge role in the Nas resurgence and this new run. He got noticeably and progressively better with each release and pushed his limits each time. This one might be a bit of a weird batch, but again, it's not wack just not what I personally wanted to hear.

That said, I also don't think it's "hate" to want to hear Nas with someone else now after like 5 albums with Hit. Not sure what's still left for their sound but if they keep going I wouldn't be mad either.
Yeah, I feel like cats are about to flame me for saying it's anything less than 4 mics. For the record KD3 was my AOTY for 2022, and KD2 and Magic were all in my top 3 for 2021, and I think KD3, Magic, and KD2 are all 4+ mic projects, and KD3 and Magic are probably in my top 5 Nas albums. KD3 definitely is.

This is a solid 3.5 to me. But I feel like saying that certain folks are gonna think I'm hating or whatever. It's totally fine IMO for these 2 to drop something I don't like as much as the rest of their work.

I'm in for whatever Nas does next. I definitely don't want him and Hit to stop making music, and at the same time I'd kind of enjoy Nas to work with other producers for at least one project. Doesn't have to be Preemo or ALC or Madlib or anyone in particular. I just wouldn't be mad at someone different on the beats for just one go around.

I think Nas is dope enough right now and in good enough of a groove where I don't think he's gonna fall off doing one joint outside of Hit-Boy.

I thought he sounded OK, but his appearance was too short. IDK why he even bothered.
