With this album, Nas is officially the John Lennon-Marvin Gaye-Miles Davis of hip hop… the artist that defines his respective genre.

Bullshyt :beli:

Nas will never be anywhere near Miles, who never did the same thing twice, nor will he ever willfully throw away all goodwill like Lennon did in the 70's. This is hyperbolic rubbish.

If Miles is the best at his genre and Nas is the best at his, why cant he be the Miles of hip hop? Of course musically Nas is nowhere near Miles.

Because Miles never made obvious sellout records :what:

Because Miles wanted to take the artform forward, instead of being stuck in the past :birdman:

Because Miles introduced an entire generation of jazz musicians to the world :comeon:

And no, Nas is not the best at his genre. Nas has just put out a great album. That doesn't mean he always puts out great albums, nor does it mean he's constantly reinventing himself. The success of this album comes from him looking to the past.

You want the Hip-Hop Miles Davis? Look no further than Kanye West - he incorporates genres of all kinds into his music and it's better for it. His music has evolved more in 8 years than Nas' has in 20.

Anyway, Life is Good is a great album, no question. Doesn't mean that you can crown Nas the minute it leaks. :rudy:

Even if I wasn't agree with you, I was hearing your argument until you talked about Yeezy. Then I just shook my head and stopped reading since you just sabotaged your got damn self :comeon: :what:

And seriously what's up with comparing miles davis to nas. It's like try to compare aretha franklin with louis armstrong, phil spector with barbara streisand. There are nothing to compare, it's not the same genra, not the same era, not the same job, not the same carreer and not the same context. Bullshyt
