"No Introduction" is so beautiful brehs
That's my GOAT![]()
I've been seeing a lot of American gangster comparisons already, but this reminds me of mbdtf
they both are trying to transcend hiphop but do it in different ways.
mbdtf is basically a pop album.
Life is good is celebration of NAS life his career and hiphop as a whole, but from a grown man's perspective.
This is the album you play to your grandpops and say "this is why I love hiphop"
it's so true to its roots, but in some weird way it's so mainstream facing at the same time.
This deserves to be his best selling album. It finally has something for everyone in a cohesive package. It's not the best of NAS, but it is the best thing for lyricism in 2012.
The fukking first song was almost enough to make me shut off the album. Ol sprinkly ass piano fest. But I expect to like most of this album. Like I did he last one. And the one before that. And the one before that.
I listened to the first song and thought "This nikka Nas is on some other shyt with this one".
The I listened to Loco-motive and thought "Nas got at a lot of critics with that 'for my trapped in the 90's nikkas'" line.
Then by the time I got to the last track I realized that he wasn't talking about that specific track but saying the album itself is "for my trapped in the 90's nikkas". Any of y'all nikkas that came up on late 80's or 90's hip hop like me truly understood the title of the album midway through. This album took me back to the old days...and everyone always reminisces on the old days being better than they were. Hence "Life is Good". I honestly consider this album a concept album. Granted, if one wants to be a harsh they can just say that Nas is just proving his inability to evolve to the new sounds of today. But I honestly think he was going for a 90's sound for this album, minus the intro and bonus tracks. shyt, even Summer on Smash sounds like it came right out of '98. The Amy Winehouse hook might be the only part of the alum besides what I stated that didn't sound straight 90ish. I'm not one of those overreacting dudes, but this might be his third best album. The flow was perfect throughout. Ross' feature was pretty useless, but that track was heat regardless. I've always had Jay above Nasir, but I think Nas just jumped to GOAT off this one. The fun thing is we get Jay's album next year most likely. We're gonna be witnessing history for the next few years, brehs.
Oh, Nas stans, y'all will look ridiculous getting aggie at anybody that criticizes Nas for spitting old shyt when he should be past this subject matter. Y'all used the same argument against Jigga on American Gangster.
90's NY sound = War Report, Hell on Earth, Hard to Earn, Liquid Swords...
Life is Good = studio engineer digital tricks to make Nas' punch-ins sound "younger" with beats that sound like the same mediocre bullshyt on Untitled, HHiD and Street Disciple
I think a queens story and summer on smash are average tracks..but the rest of the album is classic.
you have to be a hating ass a faqqit not to like this shiit..
You're a kid? Listening to Nas you must be really cool
And I don't see evidence to the contrary of Nas being popular for 3 years. Jigga resuscitated Nas when he was bordering death.

love and hate are chemical imbalances in the brain
i either feel something or i dont
this album just gives off a vibe of lowered testosterone and suburban comfort
like the dude wit knee pads and a gray goatee at the court yellin i got next and he finally get picked up and pulled his groin muscle tryin to cross somebody over
so people are not feeling it because they cant get jiggy with nas![]()
