Review was for the O.G. not the rushed finished version we got.

No it wasn't. Someone scanned the review and the review aligns with the retail version of the album. Nastradamus was the rushed album.

Over the years, the narrative shifted. I remember I Am actually being touted as Nas's 2nd best album, but Stillmatic changed that. Nas acquired new fans and people went back and listened. In the mix, It Was Written was viewed in a more favorable light from new Nas fans and some of the older day one fans were warning up to it.

I been making this statement on this site for years. Mad revisionist history here. I am was a huge success commercially and critically when it dropped.

The review was of the original version of the album. Even then, most albums didn’t have all the songs on it and wasn’t fully sequences etc when The Source and other magazines did their reviews. They had to do it months ahead of release because of printing the mag.

No it wasnt. If you read the review there is no song from the unreleased lp that comes up in the article
