so you think nas would promote it without premier being ready? Nas don’t even promote So when he goes hint, it’s established. It’s going down. Same time magic dropped

Nas mentioning that it could come out "down the line" and "we'll see" is the same thing he said in 2006 when he was supposed to be working on the album with Premier back then, and was interviewing with Scratch and other mags and did the cover with Primo. That's not promotion.

It'll be actual promotion when the album is done, we get a date and the roll-out begins.

If it's Premier holding this up then Nas should just get with Hitboy again. He's clearly in a space where he wants to rap so I think he should be recording as much as possible before he goes back into hibernation mode like he did from 2012-2018

Différence is in 2006 no actual music were recorded. This time, several people heard the work already. So I'm guessing it's just a matter of time. After he finish the tour I presume we'll hear more about it.
I hope what's define my name won't be on it

They recorded music back then. Just nothing they finished or felt should drop. Premier spoke about that a few times.

Same way, I've heard a couple of demos for the new album, and based on that and just knowing how Primo is, I think if the project is delayed, it'll be because he's heard what his peers are doing now and wants to make better sh*t to match that level.

If it's that it's good that preemo wants to be a perfectionist. But it's not too reassuring to hear that Pete rock and q tip had to make him go back to the lab.
The perspective of dropping an album with nas that pretty much everybody begged them to make for 30 years should have been a reason alone to bring the heat.
And the fact that the last 2 years in terms of production from primo have been ok to lackluster is not engaging. But I still trust them and let them cook. I don't want to be too pessimistic either.

I don’t know.

Nas said, "down the line" and "we'll see". I know Premier very well, he's wild competitive with his peers. My theory is, hearing that LL and Common album, has him going back in the lab to work on better sh*t because he's always looking at what Pete and Tip do. He's been average on production for a minute now, so I know dude doesn't want to f*ck the Nas album up.

So if we don’t see it soon, it's gonna be because Premier ain't ready yet.

And Preems backed up on a few things cause wasn’t Phryme 3 supposed to drop this year? I heard Royce say Preem was mixing it but that was spring of this year. There be another Gangstarr record too after that single dropped last week

He got a lot to do

True, Primo's all over the place right now.

That's kinda why I think the quality has dropped so crazily for the past several years. He hasn't been locked into one thing in forever, it seems. He really hasn't been the same since Guru passed away, but I think not having the focus has turned into a lot of mid production from him. Marley Marl had LL move in with him when they worked, back in '89-'90. Pete said he only worked on the Common album for months and didn't even pick up the phone while he was doing it.

When you're doing an album like this, you gotta really be on that type of sh*t. Preem's manager be having him do too much sh*t for brand purposes and the music has suffered because of it.

Nas NEVER said that in 2006 and ya’ll need to stop running with that lie.

I have the magazine. Nas himself said that he’d be working with Premier again but that he wanted to work with other producers as well. The theme of the article wasn’t even Nas and Premier working on an entire album, it was simply them working together on SONGS again after not linking for a few years. Nas was quite clear that the album that became Hip Hop Is Dead was going to have multiple producers on it.

Nas and Premo put out an entire press release saying the album was coming this year. That means its coming this year. Period

I'm probably one of the few that wouldn't mind having "Define My Name" on the album (as a bonus track, at least.) I still think it's dope.

I'm confident the LP will be crazy due to the following:

Nas saying "we ain't ready for this next one" and that he knows "it's gotta be right".

Statik voluntarily divulging that he heard something from it, and it was amazing.

Green lantern saying the album is fire.

Plus, I'm sure Nas and Preme understand the level of expectation for this album.

He definitely got Pete on that one.

But he's always talking about how he would hear Pete remixes and what Q-Tip was doing, and feel like he needs to step it up. He said he heard Pete's remix for "Can't Stop The Prophet" and that made him go to the studio to work on some new sh*t, back in the day, because Pete was remixing his sh*t with Jeru. So I know he heard that Common album with Pete and felt like he needed to sharpen his tracks up because he ain't really been dropping no heat lately. LOL!!
