Because RoboCop 2 wasn't THAT good, and Dredd "felt" a lot like a RoboCop movie to me.
I could totally imagine Murphy taking a rookie on a "Raid" style training mission a couple of years after RoboCop took place.

My Blue Heaven is based on Henry Hill's time in witness protection after the events of Goodfellas. Two movies with completely different tones based on the same character. I always said I was gonna watch them back to back one day and I never got around to it lol

Could’ve been explained that Dom went into hiding as X but was found by a covert arm of the U.S. Government to infiltrate Anarchy 99. Would definitely explain why in the subsequent Fast films he’s more secret agent than street racer.
