Mystikal’s beautiful sister, Michelle Tyler, was brutally murdered at the age of 29. At the time of her death in 1994, Mystikal wasn’t yet THE Mystikal we know him to be, he was still a local New Orleans, La. rapper trying to get his career poppin.’ Sadly, little did he and his fam’ know, they were about to be linked to another family with musical connections, because Michelle’s then-boyfriend was charged in her murder and he is also the nephew of a VERY famous singer. The thing that shocked many were the details and outcome of his murder trial.
Damion Neville (pictured on the right) is the man who was charged of murder in ’94, but the murder trial had some twists and turns, which we’ll explain in a minute. Damion’s the son of Aaron’s sister, who is also a known singer, Charmaine Neville.
Mystikal and his family were devastated by the jury’s decision and some New Orleans natives speculated that Damion Neville’s family name and fortune, is why he was set free.
We don’t know if any of those claims and charges are true or not, but whoever Michelle Tyler’s killer is, needs to understand the level of destruction they caused by taking the life of an innocent women and give Michelle justice by coming forward. Of course the chances of that happening are slim to none, but hopefully the Mystikal and his family have been able to find peace with the mystery surrounding his beautiful sister’s passing. May Michelle Tyler continue to rest peacefully.

She was found dead in her home stabbed 16 times in the neck and strangled with a radio cord.
Here’s the thing, notice we only stated that Michelle’s then boyfriend, Damion Neville, was “charged” with her murder and “went to trial” for it, but we never mentioned his jail sentence. That’s because there was no jail sentence, he was acquitted of all charges. Although Damion gave an audio confession to police where he admitted that he’d killed Michelle Tyler, his defense attorneys later claimed during the trial, that the police beat the confession out of him and suggested that maybe drug dealers whom Damion owed money to, were the actual killers instead. No one was ever convicted in Michelle’s death.
Two years after Damion Neville was acquitted in the death of Mystikal’s sister, Michelle, he was indicted again on murder charges after fatally shooting a 19 year old man in New Orleans, La.. Damion admitted to police he’d shot the man, but claimed it was in self defense after the man tried to rob him. There is no data on the outcome of those charges, so we aren’t sure if he was found guilty or not. Nowadays Damion is pursuing a rap career and in 2014 he performed with his mom, Charmaine Neville, and grandfather, Charles Neville, at the New Orleans Jazz Fest.
