My Unpopular Opinion: Pretty Toney was a little Overrated

He's nice and a legend no.doubt but Ghostface Killah is kind of Overrated. He has some classics (IronMan,Supreme Clientele and few Wu Projects ) . but nikkas on the net over hype him as he was the best during his prime.years. And he was never the clear cut best emcee from.Wu-Tang

The Ghost album I ever copped/heard.

Then I went back at got/burned Ironman/SC. Been a fan of him solo-wise ever since.

Fishscale > PT tho.

Ghost to me has one of the best catalogs in rap. He isnt my fave rapper per se, but def one of the most consistent. That being said I can see why some might not like him. He's one of them nikkas that just make words rhyme but dont really say nothin sometimes, but I like his style tho.

You acknowledge that he has multiple classics, yet then argue he is overrated?

Ghost is one of the most inventive and consistent rappers of all time. He is also one of the very best storytellers in hip hop, if not the best. He has a classic album from the mid 90s, one from the early 00s, and one from the mid 00s. I can't even think of another rapper with that type of long lasting consistency. Typically solo rappers release their best work in a flurry of time/years, like KRS One. Ghost's (solo) dopeness is spread out consistently over more than a decade. This isn't a case like say Nas where MOST fans may argue he has classics in the 00s (Stillmatic, perhaps Lost Tapes), but will admit they don't surpass his first classics (Ilmatic, It Was Written). With Ghost, most would argue Supreme Clientele surpasses his first classic (Ironman), and some might even argue Fishscale surpasses it too.
