Kamala and Trump have been ramping up and shifting the blame on the country's immigration policies the last couple days
so I came up with a new conspiracy theory this morning. Well new to me, I don't follow conspiracy theories or really know ppl who on that irl so forgive me if people been saying this...
46+ mil people in the country are foreign born, 77% of them here legally. That's 14% of the total population. In 1970 that percentage was only 5%. The rate of immigration has exploded over the last 40-50 yrs. Don't think it has anything to do with white replacement or getting votes. Don't really even think it's about allowing people to have better lives or offering refuge.
In the early part of this time period 1970-early 80s America was involved in multiple wars in Asia and multiple secret sabotage and destabilization operations in Latin America. As a result the two biggest immigrant groups over that span come from those regions, 28% and 27% respectively, over half of the total. These wars and covert operations were either opposed by the general public or hidden from mainstream media. None of it was pushed by populism in the way you could argue the Afghan or second Iraq war was.
In the 80s Reaganomics became a thing and the country pivoted to a service based economy focused on growth. Perfect timing as the country was ingesting millions of new residents looking to be productive and buy things. Fast forward to today and the consistency and growth of both immigration and the stock market are at all time highs. As the wealth gap widens productivity fueled in part by mass immigration will need to be maintained to drive growth in an economy based on consumption. Immigrants wield $1.3 trillion in annual spending power (got that from a .gov site). They are forecasted to add $7 trillion to the economy and $1 trillion in fed tax revenue over the next decade. It's not a problem to those who matter and isn't something they want to be fixed. It grows the market and is a useful political talking point for both sides. Legal or Illegal all immigrants who come here need to generate income, find a place to live, and consume things.
A lot of the economic stuff is obvious but the conspiracy part is the idea that the government purposely destabilized regions not primarily for geo-political reasons but to fuel immigration and economic growth on U.S soil
Tldr: mass immigration is not a problem it's a feature
