I need to build the cheapest computer possible. ATX is cool. Mini-ATX would be even cooler.

If someone could make some suggestions for parts (and provide some links) on something that can be built from scratch...for dirt cheap ($300 range) I'd appreciate.

I'm figuring most of ya'll might have experience with some of these products.

Nothing pre-built. Embedded sound and video would probably be best to keep costs down.

I'm giving back to the community ya'll :smugbiden: These PC's would be given to students who are in need. A program. Where they would have to build it themselves and learn a little something.

Oh and Rasberry Pis and other minipc's are out of the question. The build process is part of the program.

I've had my hands so deep in networking for the last few years that I've been out of touch. And when I do have to put in orders for machines they are usually thin clients or the most that I have to pick out is the NIC card, RAM and processor.

:salute:Is it for a non profit? Reason I'm asking is because I was looking to set something up similar in my area, but have no idea how to start.:damn:

I'll let someone else handle the specs, but it shouldn't be a problem meeting that price point

if this is a legit non-profit, maybe you can use that to get cheap/free OS

I'm looking into this. The initial plan was to just go with some variation of Ubuntu.

Putting it all together now Breh, I'll keep you abreast of any updates.

I'll have to come out of pocket initially. But I'm actively looking for grant money.

Whatever I find out I'll share.

Do you care about future upgrades? Do you need Windows 8? This can be done
