:thefucc:

anyone have this problem before?

I try to get my laptop to sleep either by closing the lid or by pressing the power button (set to sleep when you just press it, and not hold it). The back HP light stays on, and when I try to return it from the "sleep" the touchpad and keyboard backlights stay on but there is nothing on the screen. :why:

This means I have to force a shut down, which we dont want to do.

I have Windows 7, so does anyone know what the issue is?

Under the power settings do you have it set to " Windows to only turn off the screen when closing the lid." ????

Windows 7 defaults to going to sleep when closing the lid and the hibernating after a set amount of time. Pressing the power button is the only way to wake it up

I have it set to sleep when I close the lid

and its not hibernating because the HP back light is still on, and I do not have the power settings put on hibernate.

The lap top is stuck in between awake/sleep.

its how you switch between monitors when you have several monitors connected on one machine

why dont you just shut the computer down and turn it back on?
I only have one monitor connected.

And I have shut it down to turn it back on a few times.
