I posted this a few weeks ago in the screenwriting thread, but I've been working on a sci-fi script for over a year now and it recently won a Philly screenwriting contest. If anybody's bored with the quarantine and wants to give it a read, DM me your email.

School Daze: Detroit Become Human.

Unique premise. not that many sci fi genre films in black cinema outside of comicbook movies. sounds interesting.

Thanks bruh.

Yeah I’m not a gamer so I’m not familiar with it but someone else mentioned it reminded them of Detroit Become Human. My biggest influences when writing it were Robocop, Ex Machina and Black KKKlansmen.

Thanks bruh. Yeah, here's a synopsis/tease I wrote on a script hosting website

Philadelphia. The near future. The city is divided. A private tech company has taken over the police force and android officers roam the streets. The officers have succeeded in reducing crime. But that reduction has come with an alarming number of deadly confrontations with African Americans due to a controversial procedure known as "risk assessment."

The actions of the officers spark protests in many forms. The most extreme comes from Shadow, a mysterious masked figure who streams underground videos of android cops being executed. With more and more of his officers being targeted, Nick Foster, the creator of Android Enforcement, sends in his most advanced creation yet; Devin, a social android. Acting on a lead and with help from an FBI agent, Devin goes undercover at a historically black university to spy on a student who's been in contact with Shadow. As he goes deeper undercover, Devin begins to learn what it means to be human as well as the true significance of his black skin.

Winner of the Grand Prize, Regional and Oscar Micheaux awards for the 2019 Set in Philadelphia Screenwriting Competition, Skin is an exciting, thought-provoking and challenging look at black identity through the lens of a sci-fi thriller. I hope you enjoy!

Yo that sounds dope as fukk. The last part had me like :ohhh:

Thank you bruh. You know I love sci-fi but I've always been frustrated with it. Sci-fi always deals with social issues but they always use allegory with aliens/monsters/robots representing a certain race. So really i just wanted to do something that explicitly deals with race with no symbolism but in a sci-fi setting. Just hoping it resonates with people

Thank you man. Yeah it’s a long shot but that’s the goal. I was supposed to meet a producer who was one of the contest judges during an award ceremony but it was pushed back because of the coronavirus smh
