"I was very struck some years ago when the son of a Lebanese friend of mine went off to study for three years at a university in the south of England. When I passed through London from Beirut, I would sometimes bring audio tapes or letters from his parents and the student would usually meet me in a pub in Bloomsbury. He would invariably turn up with a girl and would drink several beers before setting off to her flat for the night. Then in his last term at college, he called home and asked his mother to find him a bride. The days of fun and games were over. He wanted Mummy to find him a virgin to marry."

This thread is basically for the Radamillz, Slaimon and Christians like Mr Sombody, KEvm3. We want to hear your similar stories as above. I think you do infidels, atheist and the like a disservice by not telling your whole story. The journey that it took to see the light. Like after how many ho's and coke lines did you finally say to yourself "Damn, I'm done, turning myself to Allah, PBUH"?

This article is a lot more complex than your excerpt and question

I don't think it's that hypocritical to be one sort of person in one environment and another in another environment, especially at different times of your life. It's called being human. No person is just a gaseous ball of rationalistic ideas that are immutable in different social spheres. We adapt because are evolved to fit in.

The article itself is weak cause it's trying to explain two very different things (guys turning socially conservative vs guys turning into suicide bombers)

Deion Sanders Christians here do that a lot. "I'm going to fukk 368665358456 hoes then turn myself over to Jesus when I'm ready." :rudy:

The entire concept of arranged marriages to me is just so outdated and stupid.

I worked with this one Turkish guy I think it was in 11' and I was on fb yesterday and he got married it made me wonder.

:manny:

I think it's wrong. If they're happy though?

I don't consider arranged marriages any worse than a "yo I met this chick at this party..." marriage

the only reason it's "wrong" or problematic is if it's non consensual

I don't think bumping into a girl/guy yourself or having a friend hook you up with someone is all that different in the cosmic sense from having your parents shop you around as a great guy looking for a wife etc

the problem if a guy or girl doesn't get to say "no" to a particular pick that their relatives found

Saying "no" is usually reserved for the male side of the equation. In these societies and social circles, the future groom and the bride's father have the most say.

you'd be surprised how well it works tho. :mjpls:

Given the woman has the the final say

I know alot of people from India who had arranged marriages because of there castes tradition. A lot of Sikhs

They may look at each other in the beginning like :scusthov:

but eventually they get accustomed to each other and get money together :obama:

and your answer is what... to remove the parents from the situation altogether and be like "arranged marriage sux"? not gonna happen
