Last night I was working on chest and biceps and made my way to alternate hammer curls, one of my last excercises.

I did 3 sets of 10 reps. I started my fourth set and my left arm would not lift. Arm went numb and was like I slept on it.

Raised my hand to make sure I wasn't having a stroke but was mad as hell that my session was over.

Is there anyway to beat this?

I doubt it. You had already been thru your workout. That was your arm telling you that it's had enough for now and it needed some rest. Your biceps may get some work in during some chest exercises so adding bicep exercises into the mix could tire the muscle out.
