Webber had a better peak.

Webber also turned around an NBA franchise that was lost and probably woulda moved were it not for his era. Webber was also the man on those teams. You can say Webber folded late in games but those late game moments were against one of the greatest team's in NBA history. Before Gasol paired with Kobe, he had never won a playoff game.

Webber was better than Gasol.

I also named about 4 other players outside of Webber who either were better or would be considered better.
Pau's Memphis teams were awful. They had no business winning 50 games or even being in the playoffs and having Chris Webber instead would not have been an improvement. I've never understood how those Memphis results were used an indictment against Pau, even getting to the playoffs was a feat considering what he had.

The Kings had their best run with Webber out of the lineup. They were in 1st place through 3/4ths of the season before Webber came back and torpedoed the team. Name any Pau team that was good without him in the lineup.

Webber was very talented but he was also soft and stupid and the ball went through him far too often. The Kings success was predicated on good ball movement and selfless play that led to a lot of high percentage shots and transition scoring. Webber passed well but he also slowed the team down to run the ball through him on the high post and allow him to shoot 15-18 footers at a dismal percentage. To outsiders, he probably looked like he was carrying the team because the stats suggested that but it wasn't the case.

yeah, this is nonsense. Especially since you dont use the same standard for other players.

Not only that, but 4 of those players "Terrible" teammates Gasol started with in Memphis ended up being key members on title teams a few years later.

The Kings had a great team back then. This isnt the point of contention. This is about Webber vs. Gasol and who was the better player. Never said Webber carried the Kings at all.

Fistful of jewels
Rodman needs to come off for Webber...then Pau can slide to 10th. And Barkley is not better than KG. Other than that I agree with the list.

Edit: Forgot Bosh :patrice: I don't know Pau your spot looking shaky...then again Bob you played in the 50s and shot 43% :patrice:
:camby: Rodman was an integral part of 5 championship teams, one of the greatest rebounders and defenders of all time. Chris Webber has nice passes. :camby:

:stopitslime: Pau is the only player from those Memphis teams that was ever a "key" player on a title team. Not only were those 4 players not on Memphis at the same time, they were the 5 through 8 guys on the teams they won titles with. You're really not trying to argue that a team with role players as the #2 option is a supporting cast that a player should have been able to win in the playoffs with are you?
