Uncharted 2:Among Theives.

I swear after that game came out everybody and their mother tried making games with that cinematic blockbuster look. Halo 4, RE6, Tomb Raider and a bunch of other games all suddenly were trying to create that narrative based game with crazy set pieces.

Minecraft, there’s a reason Microsoft bought the IP for 1 billion.

2.5 Billion breh.

The most influential game is easily Minecraft. I'm stuck on a teams meeting now so I can expound here and now :mjlol:

This is the highest selling game of all time. Did it in less than a decade too. This game has merchandise galore attached to it. Bedding, clothing, toys with a movie in the works. It has a custom deck of Uno cards. There was enough of a market to create a cookbook based on the game. There is now Minecraft: Education Edition for school aged children to use in school. If we are talking about gameplay and copying it, it might be Dark Souls. I'm not saying that Minecraft is a powerhouse as far as gameplay as I don't believe that it is. It is basically Legos put into a videogame but when it comes to influential nature? Worldwide? This touches the world more than any other game before it. There are college courses based on the game. There is a large contingent of people that make parody versions of popular songs in the vein on Minecraft on Youtube and then those parody songs get more views than the legit song.

Everything that I just stated, all fact, came from a game. No other game is anywhere close. I don't play the game but I'm not going to be contrarian and deny the obvious though.

These games literally created genres.

Borderlands is up there as well but it didnt create a genre, it blended some

Call of Duty Modern Warfare (2007) should really be on that list as well even if other games have eclipsed the series at this point. Call of Duty is not the cultural force that it once was but the run they had from Modern Warfare to Black Ops 2 was legendary. I cant find it on youtube but there was a preview trailer for Charlie Dont Surf that came out in 2006 or 2007 that just shocked and awed everyone at the time. Before then most people were playing one WW2 game after another or sci fi arena shooters. There was Battlefield 2 but it just didnt hit the way Modern Warfare did.

It's true that it was influential and a lot of us don't even see it that way because it's been emulated and surpassed in so many ways but you're absolutely correct. Should also shout out Call of Duty 2 for introducing everyone to what the FPS genre was capable of in the next gen era.
