Bodie’s two choices, if he expected to remain in the game, were to take Marlo’s product or move somewhere else. And we literally see that, even if he went somewhere else and built it up, Marlo would inevitably just come around and take it from him. There was no way he would survive going up against Chris and Snoop, so he did the only thing he really could do in that situation.
Poot did the smartest thing and just left the game. He realized that there was no future in it for him, got tired, and moved on to something else. Working at a shoe store is nobody’s dream job, but at least he doesn’t have to worry about getting killed or harassed by the Herc and co. anymore.
Neither was a coward move, but Bodie definitely went out sadder because he ultimately died for nothing. He only agreed to talk to the police because he wanted Marlo to fall, but Marlo ended up getting away in the end. At least Poot got to live.

Neither was cowardly, Poot’s move was smarter tho. 
Poot made assistant manager now at Foot Locker up in some p*ssy, while Bodie is worm food as the whole hood tell his story of failed glory.

Tbh staying in the game and inevitably having Chris and Snoop 'walking' you to the vacants would have me enjoying a 9-5 at Footlocker.

Which raises the question to me, why did nobody aside from Bodie up it on Chris and Snoop when they saw them coming?
I’d imagine IRL they woulda been killed with that kind of reputation, somebody woulda snuck up on them or shot them at a CVS or something
