Man, this made my eyes well up with tears. RIP to a legend.

This song will always make me instantly smile because my parents always danced to it and would call us into the living room to "get an education in real music."

Exactly, their music is so inspiring.
Peaceful yet makes you feel alive at the same time.

EWF not only elevated Black people musically, but also visually. R.I.P. Mr. White, a true genius and visionary.:mjcry:

Well this just made me cry because my dad would always sing this to me when he was trying to get me to lighten up after a bad day. This was one of his all time favorite songs, and he was one of my best friends! He passed away last year, and when I saw this, I just started crying. Damn, man.

I remember being a kid, when we had family gatherings...for reunions and holidays, we would always put on music like this. There is no feeling that I could conjure up that relates to that memory of seeing everyone singing and dancing back then, kids and grownups just having a good time together. As I've gotten older, I've tightened my hold on those memories and these songs truly bring them to life quickly....these songs, the words, they were infused with soul, emotion, feeling..they were trans-formative and they were always positive...true black excellence. I've literally broke out singing in a McDonalds when the Isley Brothers came on because I felt so damn happy and it took me back in time when I was hanging out with my father in the studio back in the day or when I got home from school and my ma was dancin to some kool and the gang in the living room.

Exactly!!! I can't even express myself enough right now, but just hearing any of this music evokes visceral memories for me. Instant happiness, the feeling that everything is going to be okay, nostalgia for the past, the feeling of simple times and good love because it was all so genuine and real. Authentic happiness, family dancing in the yard at one of our beach houses in Maryland. I was a little girl, but we got to stay up late and just enjoy family time. The breeze was cool, night skies were clear, everyone was happy, and life was so good. The next morning I remember waking up to the smell of banana pancakes and my uncle's laughter. Music was always playing, and it was always full of soul, substance and life.

Best memories! Music is so powerful, I love it and I cherish the good times.
