I recorded this verse the other day and I was wondering what I could do to make it sound better. Ill probably end up rerecording it but I just wanted to get something on there to figure out what I needed to do. Any tips would be appreciated.

You need a better booth and make some changes in how you close or far you are away from the mic. I would prolly recommend turning up the mic gain when you record a bit.

Wasn't a bad recording Persay, but wasn't good. I noticed it lacked some dynamics, also the top end could use a deesser, and it looks like you can notch a few Dbs out on a fee frequencies. Somewhere in that 700-2000 range.

Take a new band, make it really thin (high q) and drag it til you hear the resonance that sounds like it doesn't fit then notch it out.

As far as compression... I'd keep the ratio low because it already seems to be lacking dynamics.
