I wouldn't say classic as much as I'd say groundbreaking. The two words aren't interchangeable, but I can see why some would get them mixed up.

Of all the albums that get labeled as classics daily, this is the one that gets questioned?

I don't think this album is of Illmatic, Ready To Die, Paid In Full, Straight Outta Compton caliber, but there's definitely an argument for classic status based on the music, the influence, originality, and impact of the album (yes it had impact, people were and some still are trippin' off the first time they heard "The Rain" and "Beep Me 911").
