I got into this album after reading an article with Teena Marie after Rick James had just passed and she said Rick was playing it for her. Smoking a blunt and listening to "Concierto de Aranjuez (Adagio)" will put you in a zone.

This level of sophistication and culturedness absolutely does not correlate with your PAWG'n ways......... I am perplexed...
Man I’ve tried and tried just to honor the ancestors but I just can’t get into jazz. I feel like a c00n because I know people like Miles Davis and Thelonious Monk are all time great musicians but I promise I can’t make it past a song or two before chucking that shyt in the bushes

How old are you? I ask respectfully cause I didn't whole hesrtedly get into jazz, classical, world music, etc until after I hit 30ish. After exhausting myself on str8 hio hop I got tired and said "I've listened to so much hip hop I have heard over a million people getting merc'd, I'm tired of violence, hoes, bytches, etc. " .... wasn't a good change of pace.Man I’ve tried and tried just to honor the ancestors but I just can’t get into jazz. I truly appreciate jazz. Most of it just doesn’t move me to the level of R&B, Blues, and Hiphop.

Music, like any other art form, is ultimately subjective — if it doesn’t resonate with you it just doesn’t. I would try reading up on some jazz theory to provide some perspective on what they were trying to accomplish. Jazz is just miles and monk, try some Coltrane, Stanley turrentine, or Louis Jordan considering you’re a blues man.
