WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (39-4, 32KOs) will not fight again in 2014. The four division champion saw action once this year, when he made history in the month of June by stopping Sergio Martinez to capture the middleweight crown and becoming the first Puerto Rican boxer to win four world titles in four weight divisions.
Cotto was being positioned for a return on December 13th, on HBO, from New York's Madison Square Garden, but he announced to his social networks that he won't return in December and is gearing up for a fight in the first quarter of 2015.
Cotto wrote: Fans I wanted to share with you all that my return to the ring will be in early 2015!!. Thank you for the amazing support. #WarCotto"
Promoters want to make a Cotto-Canelo encounter in May of 2015, which depending on when Cotto plans to return is going to leave a very short window between two fights.
