Exclusive: Microsoft is moving ahead with an Xbox Game Pass Family Plan | Windows Central

From our information, paying on a higher tier for an Xbox Game Pass Family Plan will net access for five players for games across the entire library, and will be far cheaper than paying for five separate XGP accounts as is necessary today. Utilizing Microsoft's Family Account system already in use for Office 365, players within the same country will be able to play together using a single XGP subscription managed by a central account holder, in much the same way as Netflix.

This is monumental breh. As I've said, the battle of attrition is on and Microsoft is accelerating it. Everything that I've said that they are going to do, they are doing it, just far faster than I expected. Until September of 2020, with all doubts removed in January of this year, Sony was competing with the Xbox division. Now they are competing with Microsoft. There was once that dividing line between Xbox and Microsoft. It's no longer there as they are now one and the same. This is going to be huge.

No, Microsoft realized something a long time ago. They are cool with losing money or not making as much money as possible, if their competitors aren't making any. It partly influenced their wholesale move to subscriptions.

If you are bootlegging Windows, you aren't using Linux. If you are bootlegging Office, you aren't using Open Office or anything else. Microsoft is not overzealous about piracy like a Nintendo is.

Many families have multiple consoles in their house from the same manufacturer and if they can all share games at the same time? They are pushing for more adoption of their hardware and is even a bigger play for MTX sales because I'm sure that you won't be able to share those.

It's kind of a power play here.
