I hate love and hip. My wife (and i) is college educated....she watches the news 2x a day, movies with me, docs. We listen to audio.books together. She also watches silly ass shows i wouldnt watch cuz im a man (ballon pop, love and hip hop, real housewives, married at first sight)

A lot of the coli are not around real people....much less black.people, much less black women.

It’s not about watching silly ass shoes and guilty pleasure shows. It’s about the bullshyt low brow trash tv that I knock ANYONE for watching. And for it to be this woman’s FAVORITE SHOW? Nah breh. People have been asking why she’s been moving the way she has because we’re saying she isn’t carrying herself like a First Lady with some messy shyt she has said and done…only to have her say that LHH is her favorite show? Her behavior isn’t surprising in the least bit now given what she’s consuming.

My wife is also college educated, we wake up to the sports center and wgn news. She reads every night, she journals, doesn’t post on social media, only uses TikTok, no IG or Twitter, watches docs, sports, Disney Channel and listens to murder podcasts. The only reality TV she watches is competition shows like The Challenge, Bachelorette, Alone, Great British Bake Off.

None of that minstrel show bullshyt that NO ONE should be watching and is 100% scripted and toxic as fukk to relationships. The only thing she watches that I would call some bullshyt would be Love Island and some show that’s about Deckhands on yachts.

No Pop Ballon, 20v1, LHH, Real Housewife, no shows about cheating like Temptation Island or none of that. Stop trying to attribute this bullshyt to not being black women if they don’t consume this trash. Even suggesting in a roundabout way that someone isn’t black or around black people if they don’t watch that bullshyt or be on social media consuming it is some goofy nikka shyt. Just say you found a wife who loves that bullshyt and manages to carry herself in a good way despite it, because some women can. Cool, I love that for you. But some of us are capable of finding a wife who isn’t into none that shyt in the first place.

Also i didnt mean to suggest ALL black people or women consume this type of content. I have a female cousin with multiple degrees and she doesnt watch TV period or listen to popular music. I listen to a smaller portion of rap music because i find a lot of minstrely as I get older. So i know ALL black people dont do ANYTHING.

What i am saying is that I find it hard to believe that a women (take black out of it for a moment) watching reality tv is shocking to people. I have coworkers (women) who discuss this shyt the way me and my potnas discuss tarrifs or espn.

I agree with you that much of is toxic. But shyt the coli is "toxic" and we're able to consume it and move morally in real life (i hope). Do i think her consuming toxic relationship shows could impact her marriage. Sure it could...but thats on the Prez to check and deal with. Im not married to her. Would i rather her be "encouraging" women to read Coates or Men we reaped by Jesymn Ward? Of course.

My larger point is that these are regular people. Barack drops a book list yearly that my wife and I check for. But if he dropped a best wrestler list of 2025....Im not checking for it (wrestling is weird to me), but im not condemning him for the shyt he watches for fun.
