I know we give him shyt for commentary, lines etc but tonight just showed how good he is at his job without Vince barking at him constantly

Remained as calm and composed as he could without frightening anyone, informed the fans, kept trying to keep on with it; and real talk, I'd rather it was him there tonight than J.R, who would have probably had a breakdown or something

You did good b :obama:

Last night was a reminder of the quality in Cole when he is not forced (or personally attempting) to be a heel commentator by basically burying talent/segments or scoffing/laughing when not necessary.

Props to him, can't even imagine how difficult that was.

Would be nice if he stays this way going forward, but doubt it.

Pretty much says it all.

And c/s the OP about JR. Ross probably would have taken it very hard (even though he was very professional during the Owen tragedy). Never mind the fact that Ross shouldn't have to go through that nightmare AGAIN. Having to be professional while someone is dying next to you has got to be difficult as all hell.

Major props to Cole. I know its hard for some to realize, but these are real people. He was way more professional than I could have been. I was shook up bad in front of my big screen and I don't even know Lawler.

Cole is used to seeing some horrifying shyt from his time at CBS.

Coulthard covered the 51-day siege at the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas, in 1993. The following year, he spent nine months covering the Yugoslavian civil war. In 1995 he was also selected to cover the aftermath of the Oklahoma City bombing.

Backstage notes from last night regarding Lawler

It was a very chaotic scene but one WWE person said that he didn't see prayer groups. The show was going on without any talk of stopping it.

Vince McMahon was not with Jerry Lawler the entire time. Vince McMahon was handling things from the Gorilla position until the commercial break. Then he came out to check what was happening, and then went back to the Gorilla position. HHH was running backstage. All the verbiage used by Michael Cole on the air was word-for-word what Vince was telling him to say.

Didn't another source say Vince was by Lawler's side nearly the whole time?

Anyway, even if that's true about Vince telling him what to say, Cole's still a trooper for delivering on camera under that stress

For someone passing out right beside u Cole kept his composure as well as he could. You could kind of tell when he said the show will roll on that he didnt want to be there though. He was concerned for Jerry as a friend last night. Not as a colleague.
