Finally watched this movie after watching the documentary on the making of it

I read and heard that there are a total of 5 different versions of this film. The first version of the movie that was aired for studio executives was 5 hours long :damn:

The thing that stood out the most about this film is the lack of script. It was hard to figure out what was going on at times during the film because of a lot of stuff just goes on without a clear explanation and sometimes some scenes that didn't really seem to have any real significance just went on and on and on and on.

It seems like Michael Cimino put everything into the film except a script.

When one man brings down a company and his own career because they said heres a blank check dude, go make whatever the fukk you want! :russ:

Yeah, basically.

It's like Michael Cimino spent so much time on everything else but the script.

The lack of a script was the first thing that stood out to me.

A lot of the scenes are long but without much being explained clearly.

I never came close to finishing this movie but only tried watching because of how notorious of a flop it was. And I know the deer hunter is considered a classic mainly because of the classic roulette scenes but aside from that, deer hunter was also an overly long boring film.

He got lucky with that movie and couldn't repeat.

The only other films of his I've seen are The Sicilian, Desperate Hours, Year Of The Dragon, and The Deer Hunter.

I haven't seen Thunderbolt and Lightfoot and The Sunchaser.
