Amazon is officially taking Jack Ryan back to the beginning.

The streaming video service announced Tuesday that it has ordered Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, a drama focusing on the author’s CIA-analyst character at the start of his career. (If that sounds familiar to you, it’s because news of the straight-to-series order first broke in September.)

As previously reported, The Office‘s John Krasinski will play the titular hero in the drama, which, per the logline, “follows an up-and-coming CIA analyst thrust into a dangerous field assignment for the first time.” The 10-episode series “follows Ryan as he uncovers a pattern in terrorist communication that launches him intot he center of a dangerous gambit with a new breed of terrorism that threatens destruction on a global scale.”

The project is co-created by Lost vets Carlton Cuse and Graham Roland, who will executive-produce alongside Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, Lindsey Springer, Andrew Form and Mace Neufeld.

The series’ action will be based on an idea that Cuse and Roland developed, and will not be a direct adaptation of the novels.

“We’re excited to add the Jack Ryan global franchise to our robust originals pipeline,” Roy Price, Head of Amazon Studios, said via statement. “Our customers will enjoy a compelling adaptation of the action-packed spy thriller book series, further raising the bar for the quality level of storytelling that has made Prime Video a leading destination for content.”

Jack Ryan, who [Spoiler alert!] eventually becomes president in Clancy’s novels, has been played in films by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine.

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan will be produced by Paramount Television and Skydance Television.
