Some people just came out at the wrong time. Mic Geronimo maybe the epitome of that guy. His lyrics were ill, beats were hot, hell he even helped to put on a bunch of cats. (Peep Jay, Ja and DMX before their official debuts)

But this was 1995, and in the wake of people like Nas, Biggie, Wu, Onyx, Redman on the East Coast, Dre, Snoop, Cube on the West, and the South coming to life, Hip Hop was arguably at it's peak and a lot of VERY talented cats were looked over.

So I revisit and put you on to Mic Geronimo.

It's true. Dude coming out and being a poetic mc from QB with a style similar to Nas didn't help either.

He was ill though. Appearing on that sex in the 90s shyt on MTV and airing his personal biz and then trying to go jiggy with puffy on his 2nd lp killed his career (despite his sophomore jawn having some sick tracks.)

I disagree. Mic Geronimo came out right on time. He was local and was shining as a local. His prime was 1995. Nas was still local as well. Mic dropped the ball with his 2nd album.....and he had Puff helping him out but he couldnt really make a hit song like his boy Ja Rule would later do....Thats why he fell into irrelevant oblivian.

When I think of Rappers who came out at the wrong time, I think Saigon and Immortal Tech.

Since we speaking on Mic we have to speak on how it was Mic that gave Ja Rule shine first with Cash Money Click......I cant lie tho...Between this vid and their second vid...I will say that at the time Ja Rule was convincing at presenting this image of being a street thug

I remember that :mjlol:
Funny how something like that is completely par for the course nowadays...

Yeah funny how times change. Nowadays, he would just up his exposure by doing that, but back in the keep it real era, duke fukked himself.

I dont think That MTV thing killed his career tho. . To me it made him look cool cuz at first I was like "This nikka done made it to MTV".......What killed his career is what kills eveyones career...He stopped making catchy songs and he stopped being consistant.....How u putting JaRule on and he blows up over U? I'm just gonna up and say it.........There was that one point where Mic was bigger then Nas. Thats right I said it. Right before it Was written dropped Mic Geronimo was bigger then Nas. (People forget that Nas was local when he dropped) When Master IC dropped.....Nas was an after thought.

Foxy Brown was the new chick on the scene and Mic Geronimo having foxy Brown on his lap like she was his lil shorty in the "Wherever you are" video was a good look at the time. Keep in Mind.....Nas didnt really have material out by this time so this is why I say that.

Geronimo was dull as fukk. No charisma. Generic beats. That's why he never popped. In fact, the only time he's ever been dope to me is on here:

Aside from this being an amazing beat and the best beat Geronimo ever rhymed on, his delivery is a lil different (and better) than usual. also, the back-and-forth between him and Flush helps things so I'm not hearing the same monotone nasal voice the whole song.

Peep how boring he sounds on this in comparison. He couldn't turn this hot beat into fire:

so Geronimo :camby:
