Miami athletic director Blake James gave reporters a tour of the Hurricanes' athletics center on Friday, which included the football locker room dedicated to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.
Johnson was recognized by the UM Alumni Association in April with the Edward T. Foote, II Alumnus of distinction award. It is the highest honor that a graduate can receive for personal and professional achievements that bring honor to the university.
"It is important to give back because Miami has made me into the man I am today…taught me about hard work, discipline and sacrifice, but most importantly how to lose graciously and win graciously and humbly," Johnson said in April at the award ceremony. "So I went from that kid…to receiving this award."
Johnson has generously donated to the school's Alumni Center and Football Facilities renovation fund. His giving, which was reportedly the largest donation ever given to Miami's athletic department by a former student, resulted in the renaming of the Hurricanes locker room.
