Last week I was about to dust off Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain from my backlog and finally play it until I realized there was some story elements that didn’t make sense. I stopped playing them shyts and ran to the internet to find out what I was missing. I discovered that Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker is actually the 5th entry and Metal Gear Solid V is the 6th. The V doesn’t stand for 5, it stands for Venom. MGSV is basically Peacewalker 2. So begins the hunt… only to find that Peacewalker is only available on older consoles. It’s not in the fukkING PS5 STORE WHAT THE fukk SONY??? When you look for it on Xbox, that shyt don’t fukking show up either! Now a nikka is livid. Do I gotta PPSPP this shyt? Oh shyt! Nvm! It actually IS in the Microsoft store! The only way it pops up is if you type mgs in search.

Ridiculous.

Anyway it’s got great reviews, so I’mma start it now and post my thoughts since there is no existing Peacewalker thread. One of my friends has been begging me to play this game since it came out so umpteen years later I’m giving it a spin.

I played Peace Walker when it dropped with the collection on PS3, so I think after I played 4 I played 2, 3, the PW. I liked the game and I liked the base building aspect.

But while the story for MGS has always kind of been out there, Peace Walker was when it went off the rails for me.

:dahell:

and LOL at you expecting Sony to give you backwards compatibility.

Before Peace Walker you'd have to get MGS Portable Ops as well. That's the one that's gonna be a pain to try and play since it was only for PSP. A shame because that one goes into the origin of Frank Jaegar, the one we know as the cyborg ninja from Shadow Moses. :manny:

Do you see what I mean? it doesn't say Metal Gear or Metal Gear Solid. You can't even find it by looking up the word Peacewalker. You literally gotta type MGS to find that shyt.

Yeah I realized that as I was playing they never introduced who Kaz was. I'm like who the fukk is Kaz??? Where this nikka came from? Do I gotta hunt down Portable Ops???? I guess I should stop playing Peacwalker and put Portable Ops on my Hacked Switch PPSPP... sheesh.

Yes. If you have the option, play portable ops first. That’s the game that comes after MGS3

Yea but at least it transitioned into it. I can’t take shyt gradually getting crazier. Chronologically anyways. Why am I going back in time and fighting shyt more advanced than in the future :mjlol:

I downloaded the game...then I realized how much setting up I'd probably have to do in PPSPP to get this shyt done and said NOPE!!! I'mma watch a playthrough of Portable Ops instead before I continue playing Peacewalker. This is Konami's fault for not making it legally playable on today's consoles.

Portable Ops was an early PSP title so it can be very jank and also very repetitive in mission structure and variety.

You were better off watching the videos.
