Iceson Beckford
Rich In Spirit.
Like many Black men worldwide, I’ll leaving high school this summer and I feel this film effectively how everyday above ground is a chess move
I’m not going to pretend to be a critic I’m just a young normal nikka who happens to like a genre so Ill keep this brief as possible
I love 90s Black film and coming of age so Menace is the perfect marriage of the two.
I feel it’s a layered and powerful film that many can relate to on some level even not directly.
In a low income area, there’s many temptations but also oldheads droppings gems and pointing you in a certain direction which creates a God/Devil on shoulder scenario
This combined with the free time of a summer can be fatal if you aren’t moving right
The way Sharif and his father and Caine were presented was memorable and realistic
Even the trailer is powerful as hell with the visuals and Marvin’s Whats Going On combined
Come and share your thoughts and praise on this classic brehs
