Menace II Society is a classic and one of the greatest films of the 90's

Dead Presidents is a great film and very underrated when compared to Menace II Society

with that said, which film do you like more?

Dead Presidents is an excellent film...close to a perfect movie.

Menace is an entertaining movie, so I'd always say Dead Presidents. Unfortunately, it is so underappreciated

yeah

Dead Presidents proved that Allen and Albert were here to stay as directors and they are no flukes

i wish they would come back together as duo and make another film.

Growing up menace 2 society. Watching them again as an adult I have a greater appreciation for dead presidents. A lot of themes in there went over my head as a youngin.
I love how it's social commentary on coming of age, war & PTSD, US treatment of vets, life's perils, the system, yet it never harps on one issue long enough to become preachy. It's just a domino effect of layered storytelling.

Then you can't forget score by Elfman, and the soundtrack. I haven't seen a movie use music as effectively since American Graffiti

Yeah

Dead presidents has a lot more of time of the story that it covers too

Their lives pre war, their lives during the war and their lives post war

It’s 3 acts and the Hughes brothers did a great job covering each act

The Deer Hunter influence is definitely there too

Love them both we used to watch them both all the time growing up. I don't really have a preference for one over the other.

Menace is better to me but both are great movies .. both also don’t give a fairytale ending.. just harsh realities of the struggles the characters were facing
