Music is for everyone every where, he’s right. It’s music…the street element is usually what was ruining the park jams and displays of hip hop early on, so you can argue the street is hip hop’s biggest Op, 😨. Hip hop came from poverty…poverty stricken environments…and wherever you find poverty you’re gonna find some derelict nefarious dikk head nigs…that doesn’t mean hip hop is that/them though, the whole hood ain’t that/them. Criminal cowboy nigs are a tiny fraction of the hood…the overwhelming majority are not that..

When the shhit evolved, or devolved, and people’s fascination with criminality and the street opened a lane for that element to get into hip hop simply because they’re criminal and street, that’s when the dark cloud got cast over shhit. But I digress, 🤷🏽‍♂️ 😆, no matter what anyone says yall still gonna love gangstas and streets, 💅😍…so you love your hip hop gangsta and street and have convinced yourself that’s what hip hop is, lol, whatever floats your boat. Salute to Melle Mel

Everyone loves gangsta and the streets. Even white people. Which is why movies like Goodfellas and The Godfather are extremely popular. I wonder how the streets would look now without hip hop. Considering the streets looked WORSE before gangsta rap.

The mafia was basically just crash dummies. They weren't well spoken, eloquent gentleman gangsters.

They got a rebrand with "The Godfather". I'm dead serious. After "The Godfather" mobsters started talking and dressing differently. That's where the modern idea of the mafia comes from. A f*cking movie.

Black street gangsters haven't had a rebrand like that. Let someone like Scorsese make a BMF movie. The mafia is just BMF, with better marketing. But only one is criticized.

Fred.

You and me both, lol.

I know what you’re saying, but it’s a forced false equivalency, you know that. Of course there are sh!theads everywhere, the burbs, the hood, hip hop, country, whatever…but a quick look at the shootings and deaths and the violent, regressive fukkery in general tied to hip hop is on a whole different tier in comparison to other genres…and in the “street” compared to other spots. It’s not a race thing, it’s a poverty thing, imho….thats why society tries so hard to keep people who look like us in poverty, they want us to kill each other and commit crimes and ruin our lives and shhit. Gangsta rap is a great vehicle to push that…but that’s another discussion
