Props to this brother. Cycling is an extremely physically and mentally demanding sport. It's also very expensive. The bikes are made of carbon fiber and weigh about 15lbs. You can literally pick them up with your finger. A true race bike can cost upwards of $10 racks. I bring this up because just like any other sport with a high barrier to entry, melanoids make up a very small percentage .01%ish. Just another example of our greatness. Just thought I'd share.

He's following in the footsteps of the first melanoid Champion, Major Taylor, who rewrote the record book every time he raced.

Good stuff. :ohhh: As bicyclist that has hung around serious black cyclists in Houston that do the MS 130 race from Houston to Austin, this is super dope. He will paid just off the speeches he will be invited to do.

I thought I knew all the Black history trivia, but never heard of this cat, Major Taylor......:wow:

Texas is the cycling capital, its serious down there. I'm a member of the Major Taylor cycling club in my city MTCCLR – Rock City Riders Cycling Club Website. We're training for a 100 mile ride at the end of this month. I just started this year and I'm hooked.

Won't get the exposure an we know why:mjpls:
He won't get the exposure because he's nowhere close to even riding at the peak of the sport.

He won the amateur national championship and is 30, so not like he has a big future ahead of him as a competitor.

He's doing a LOT of work to get black kids on bikes though. That's going to be his real legacy.

Dope. I am a casual rider, but I've been invited out to do some long distance training with this black group out here.

Even as a casual rider, I lost crazy amount of weight. Awesome way to stay fit.

Do you wear any protective gear besides helmet?

How are drivers?

How is the infrastructure for bicyclist? Even though I know Yyou're mainly on streets?

Yeah cycling does wonders for weight loss. I ride with older guys that used to struggle with high blood pressure now all of them are off the meds. There are plenty of cycling/running trails here in Arkansas so I really don't have to worry about being in the way of cars. When I do long distance rides, usually in a group of 25-40 bikes, we hit the country back roads so it's pretty safe. I just wear a helmet now but when I start racing next spring I'm going to have some kind of elbow and knee protection. I might look silly but oh well.
