Mediocre/trash Actors having good performances

This thread was mostly inspired by my most recent rewatch of Friday Night Lights and my realization that Taylor Kitsch is really good in this(mostly the last three seasons of the show) yet is in everything else.

Natalie Portman in Black Swan, and Keanu Reeves in My Own Private Idaho are good examples of this.

Also Hayden Christiansen in Shattered Glass was great, and I think that dude might be the worst actor in the film industry.

Might get some heat for this but Marlon Wayans in Requiem for the Dream
they man can act...I dont understand why he wastes himself doing spoof movies, when he could take more dramatic roles to show his talent, or at least balance it out, if he just does the comedy for a check
