What up Film Room brehs?

I wanted to share the premiere of my web-series titled, Meantime with you all. I've been practicing photography over the last 6 years, started off as a hobby, but now it's a legit side hustle. In the last year or so, I've started shifting gears a bit and focusing more on the video and cinematography side of things and that's how this show was essentially birthed.

Concept:
Too often we only see the extremes of things. The worst and the best sides of the spectrum are always on display. With Meantime, we dive into the space that falls in the middle of that spectrum...the process...the grind.

"Started from the Bottom, now we're here", "Rags to Riches", ect. Both common figures of speech that paints only part of the picture, just the surface level when you think about how people truly reach their goals. Let's break through the surface and reveal of how ideas are turned into works.

Meantime is a web-series that focuses and highlights the creative process of talented creatives across various mediums. When you visualize your dreams and aspirations, keep this one question in mind... "What am I going to do in the 'Meantime' to achieve them?"

Check it out and let me know what you think!

Video work is dope.
Lighting is good. Angles were good. Cuts were good. Dope work overall.

Dudes on camera weren't very interesting IMO.
I'm not a fan of any of the beats they were walking through but I'm biased like crazy though so take it for what it's worth (I'm into the New York boom bap sound which I know isn't really poppin like that today).
Shooting in front of that Control 24 is funny. (Biggest paper weight in the world but looks good on camera for those that don't know it's just a huge obsolete controller.)

I like the concept a lot, and as someone who has always been super into producers and their process this shyt was right up my alley. The only thing that held this back were the subjects themselves. Apart from (IMO) being kinda generic as producers, they were also pretty generic as personalities. They said a lot of cliche stuff.

With that being said I watched the whole video because even though they weren’t good it was engaging. I can only imagine how dope a 15 minute video like this would be from someone/people who were actually ILL at what they do.

Also, I don’t know how you interacted with them, but it might actually help if you left in the questions you asked them from behind the camera. Like if you had a producer who started playing a kick drum pattern then he deleted it or switched it up, we hear you ask why he did it, and then we cut to him finding the drum pattern he likes and we see if what he said actually translated to the end result that kinda puts us β€œin his head” so to speak.

Dope concept though and if you do more I’ll absolutely watch. I like watching creators create and talk about their process.

Props on the feedback, I appreciate that yal took the time to watch.

I agree with you both on how the vibe of the session went. Things definitely didn't go as smoothly as I wanted them to. Before production of course, I typed up some general talking points that were pretty universal to everybody that I reached out to for the series, and got the ball going that way. Prior to me sending it out to people, I sent it to my brother who's my business partner and who's also a part of the series to see if he wanted to add anything to what I had... and he was fine with it, but really, he didn't really look at it til the day of the shoot.

So we met up the day of to kind of talk over what we were trying to accomplish and pull out of the guys, and it was clear that our visions for what the series was trying to capture wasn't aligned completely. But it's the first one, so I'm sure it'll improve going forward.

But so far we plan on having one of these for... a poet, painter, movie reviewer/critic, comedian, my nephew who does shoe restoration, my brother who's a designer, and myself. And the list keeps growing as we both reach out to more people within our network about it.

So yeah, stay tuned, I'm sure the progression will be well documented

:salute:

Thanks again

Dope concept breh. Unlike @Kamikaze Revy, I actually dug the beats, even tho I also share the boom bap east coast style. I like a variety of styles tho and these smooth style joints are also my steez. I agree with the need of more personality from the producers themselves tho.

Also @GoldenGlove , my breh, you going to highlight your own 'Meantime' process of what got you here, hehe?

Snippets for the next episode... should be out very soon, adding some final touches to it. These were excerpts from conversation that didn't make the final cut, not because they weren't dope, just because we wanted to cut down on the time of the overall episode.

We're implementing the suggestion @steadyrighteous made about having the topic/question displayed to give more context on what is being talked about.
