I've met several people who didn't know who Floyd was. People who started following Boxing just 10 years ago wouldn't understand how much more polarizing someone like Tyson or even Ray Leonard were for their time. Boxing was also a lot more mainstream back then in comparison to now. As much money as Floyd has earned, he's still relatively not a "house hold name" in the grand scheme of things. I know people who follow sports in general than still refer to him as "Merryweather"
If you followed boxing even casually (which she implied) and don't know who Mayweather is your fukking straight up retarded. That shyt would be like following the NBA and not knowing who Lebron, Durant or Kobe were.
In general a lot of people know who Floyd is, but you didn't have to watch Boxing 20 years ago to know who Tyson, Ray Leonard, and Muhammad Ali were. They were larger than life characters. Floyd, while still obviously a celebrity and the Best Boxer today, he doesn't hold that same type of attention across the board beyond Sports fans.
