A man of many talents and many projects, Max Landis today revealed to Comic-Con that he’s writing a Pepe Le Pew movie for Warner Bros. The news of the animated project came from the Bright screenwriter in the middle of the Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency panel on Saturday. Landis is the lead writer and an EP on the BBC America series based on Douglas Adam’s 1987 novel.

When it comes to the French-striped skunk, the big screen version of the Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies character was a pitch from the Power Rangers scribe that the studio liked, we’ve heard.

The character Pepe Le Pew is known for strolling around Paris in the springtime when everyone’s thoughts are of love, and he’s always on the lookout for “l’amour” of his own. But he has a couple of problems — his malodorous scent and his refusal to take “no” for an answer.

Landis currently has Channel Zero set at Syfy, a limited series anthology series he’s executive producing with writer Nick Antosca. The scribe also has Bright, which Netflix picked up for a not-so-small $90 million after a spirited bidding war. Also in the pipeline is Deeper at MGM starring Bradley Cooper.

"I guess original ideas are dead." - Writer Max Landis, after his film, American Ultra, bombed and was critically panned.
