1. he was part of a larger trade bundle since he makes jack shyt. Utah got a lightly protected first 4 years from now and an expiring They didn't walk away with nothing.
2. for everyone who loves Vando (and there's a lot to love about Vanderbilt), they also didn't see what made him expendable.

We know he can't shoot but despite that, he's a high value hustle guy and gets in position where he doesn't hurt his team as much spacing wise. I look at someone like Herb Jones who hurts his team offensively but Vanderbilt doesn't force 3s and is willing to cut consistently. He would help any contender.

I'm not saying he doesn't. It's not even the lack of spacing. It's that he's light on his feet, so when he runs into someone else who does what he does, but is stronger, he doesn't have another way of helping. That's what happened to him last year and before you know it he was averaging 21 minutes on the smallest team in the league.
