Maury Povich Launching His Own DNA Paternity Test Company
While his daytime talk show has finished taping new episodes, Maury Povichstill plans on helping ensure parents know whether or not they are the father. Last year, Povich announced that he was retiring from daytime television, as Maury would be ending following a 31-season run. Povich's constant presence on the small screen over the past three decades has made him one of television's most recognizable stars, and things just aren't the same without him revealing paternity test results to quarreling parents. The good news for fans is that Povich intends to get these results to people, but they'll have to do the testing themselves at home.
Per TMZ, it's been revealed that Povich is launching his own brand of at-home DNA paternity tests. Inspired by his talk show, the brand has been named "The Results Are In." We can only presume the box will have Povich's familiar face on it so users can feel like they're a part of the TV show when doing the testing. While the box art hasn't been revealed just yet, what's known is that the testing kits will include materials and instructions on how to properly take a DNA sample. The samples will then be sent to a DNA Diagnostics Center lab, and results will be provided within 2-23 business days with a 99.99% accuracy rate.
Of course, one key difference is that there isn't a nationwide audience watching as the DNA test results are revealed. The testing is completely confidential, the direct opposite of having a studio audience cheering with millions more watching at home. But as Povich has long been synonymous with paternity test results, perhaps users will still feel like they're going with the best choice by picking "The Results Are In" for their at-home testing.
"I've seen firsthand how DNA testing can change lives and bring families together," Povich says in a statement. "With 'The Results Are In,' we're making it easier and more affordable than ever before for people to get the answers they need."
