Lucas Matthysse (36-3, 34KOs) is still hoping to lure WBC/WBA 140-pound champion Danny Garcia back in the ring. Matthysse faced him in September 2013 as part of the Floyd Mayweather-Saul Alvarez pay-per-view undercard.

It was a tough fight early on for the champion but the tide completely changed after Matthysse's right eye began to swell shut. From that point on, Garcia took over the contest and won a twelve round unanimous decision.

He expects Garcia to make a full move to welterweight after this Saturday's fight against IBF 140-pound champion Lamont Peterson. None of the belts are at stake - with the fight taking place at a catch-weight of 143-pounds. It is Garcia's second fight in a row which is being fought above the junior welterweight limit.

"If it was not for the eye, he would not have beaten me the last time. It's hard enough to fight with both eyes, then imagine only fighting with one. He is all about business now and fights without putting anything at stake... like his titles. Danny Garcia is dodging me. He felt my punch and doesn't want to have anything to do with me. I'm positive he is moving up and the [WBC] title will become vacant," Matthysse told reporters in Argentina.

On April 18th, Matthysse will get in the ring with former champion Ruslan Provodnikov (24-3, 17KOs) in what many expect to be a 'Fight of The Year' frontrunner.

"It's a fight at the top level and he will be a tough opponent but I'm preparing well for this match," Matthysse said.

That's typically how it goes though.

Garcia beat him, but I wouldn't mind seeing them getting it in again:manny:

I agree. It was a clear win for Danny and a rematch isn't mandatory with the way the fight went (Herrera though:sas2:), however it was a great fight and a rematch just gives the fans a great fight and each fighter a bonus on their resume.

I had it 7-5 Garcia, plus an extra point for the KD. A clear 3 point win for Danny.

Also from watching that fight , I don't think it is a guarantee Danny would win the rematch. If the fight makes sense for both guys at the same time they should do it. If they dont, it isn't critical to revisit.

For what? Garcia has nothing to gain and everything to lose

Is he not supposed to want and avenge his loss? Every fighter should stalk the guy that beat him until they can get a rematch. I have no problem with Matthysse calling him out.

Lucas need to keep that quiet an focus on dispatching of Ruslan. Danny /Lucas 2 would be good, but Swift isn't ducking la machina.

Maybe he should do like Khan and pretend it never happened instead of wanting to run that back. :shaq2:

I hope he does get Danny eventually they match up well against each other.

Exactly. George Foreman KOd Joe Frazier in 2 rounds...and fought him again 5 fights later (First fight in 73. Rematch in 76). It would be the exact equivalent of Garcia fighting Peterson, taking 1 more fight this year, and rematching Matthysse in early 2016:yeshrug:

Garcia doesnt HAVE to rematch him, but I don't fault Matthysse for trying to avenge it:yeshrug:
