We'll have to remain sceptical about this because the source is unknown to us, but they have had a few confirmed scoops in the past so it's at least worth reporting as a rumor. Word is, the Oscar winning Interstellar actor is the man Marvel wants to play Spidey's arch nemesis...

It's grain of salt time! Youtube channel That Hashtag Show are reporting that Matthew McConaughey is being looked at by Marvel and Sony to play the latest incarnation of Norman Osborn for their new Spider-Man flick. These guys haven't broken a lot of scoops in the past, but we now know they were on point with some early Avengers: Age Of Ultron spoilers so this might be worth paying some attention to.

Keep in mind that McConaughey did recently reveal that he'd read scripts from both Marvel and DC in the past and was still open to appearing in a comic book movie, so there's a chance this is just some wishful thinking - but, there's no doubt he'd be a great fit for the role.

What do you guys think? Any truth to this? Sound off in the usual place.

Word because spiderman is a single generation flash in the pan and only neckbeards go watch spiderman movies.

Nice try kiddo.
Spidermans story has been done now 3 times in 15 years. shyt needs to be put to rest. For at least 5-10 years. No one is gonna care, cause no one is asking for all these Spiderman reboots to begin with. Except maybe fanboys like yourself. We already got one decent trilogy. Enough already.

I never asked for a reboot. But spiderman movies are good for $600 million without trying...so the idea that only fanboys are watching and there's no demand for a spiderman movie are factually wrong.

Let's be real about this breh. That $600 million is 60% fanboys buying tickets. I don't know any kid that likes Spiderman the way we used to back in the 80's and 90's. And I have a bunch of nephews fyi. It's majority adult males still hyping Spiderman.

You're very wrong on this one. Spiderman has probably the biggest fan base amongst kids of any hero, today. Its neckbeard male adults who dont give a fukk about spiderman on film esp. origin story.

I think Batman and The Avengers are more popular with kids these days. Hell even Superman. Where are you getting your so called facts from btw?

Last year, Marvel sold approximately $1.3B worth of Spider-Man products, which is approximately four times the $325M they made from the Avengers. Meanwhile, their competition over at DC has struggled to keep up. Unsurprisingly, their most popular property was Batman, who brought in a respectable $494M, while their second most popular hero, Superman, brought it about $277M.
