SITUATION REPORT: MOSCOW TERROR ATTACK
• Last night, at least 4 heavily-armed gunmen opened fire at the Crocus City concert hall on the outskirts of Moscow, killing many people.
• The rock band Picnic was due to perform at the venue and thousands of people were expected to attend. One member of the group is missing.
• During the attack, a flamethrower was used to set the building on fire, causing a massive blaze which resulted in additional casualties.
• At least 143 people are confirmed dead and the death toll is expected to rise further, according to the governor. 121 people have been hospitalized.
- 4 suspects were arrested after a police chase early this morning in the Bryansk region, close to the border with Ukraine and Belarus. During the chase, the suspects fired at police.
• While being interrogated, 2 of them claimed they were promised up to 1 million rubles ($10,836) each to carry out the attack. They claimed the location of the attack was sent anonymously through Telegram.
• ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack, which U.S. officials said appears to be authentic, citing recent intelligence which prompted a warning from the U.S. embassy on March 7.
• Meanwhile, Russia's FSB claims the attackers had contacts in Ukraine and were driving to the border when they were caught near Bryansk. Ukraine's government has denied any involvement.
