BoxingScene.com has confirmed that Marvin Sonsona (19-1-1, 15KOs) has officially joined the vast stable of manager/adviser Al Haymon. We reported a few days ago that Sonsona and Haymon were negotiating a potential agreement.
Sonsona becomes the first Filipino fighter to join Haymon Boxing, which handles a stable of 160 to 170 fighters.
Sonsona, 24-years-old and a former world champion, has won five in a row since suffering his only career defeat in 2010 at the hands of Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. He avenged that loss last June with a ten round decision over Vazquez on the Cotto-Martinez undercard from New York's Madison Square Garden.
At the age of 19, Sonsona became the second youngest fighter from the Philippines to win a world title when he unseated Jose Lopez in 2009.
The WBC recently ordered Sonsona to face Jayson Velez in a WBC featherweight title eliminator.
Sonsona is promoted by Sampson Lewkowicz, who has several of his other boxers signed Haymon, including Javier Fortuna and Oscar Escandon.

This is actually kind of a big deal brehs. Sonsona is nice and a great pickup for Haymon's stable
I had wanted to eventually see Sonsona vs Donaire somewhere down the line, but that's not gonna happen now that Donaire has dropped back down to 122 and is with TR while Sonsona is with Haymon
I expect Sonsona to rise into the RING Top 10 sometime later this year/early next year
