Living for the city spoke to racism and the black experience. Inner city blues was a higher level view of society on a whole.

Both still relevant today, but Living for the city is visceral and raw while Inner city is philosophical. Different songs for different situations.

Pastime Paradise would be a better comparison to Inner City Blues I think...
