Black kids don't think Mackie's Sam Wilson is cool

It's because it's kind of corny. Sam is Falcon. He basically has to become a white man (Captain America) to elevate his character, instead of just being Falcon. I get it, a Falcon movie is not going to have the success that a Captain American movie will have.

Looking back at Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Sam wasn't given many opportunities to be cool

He was insecure about being Cap in the first place

 He was soft on the villian

He didn't have anything resembling a love interest(this matters when it comes to male superheroes). Steve had Peggy, Sharon, and mild flirtations with Black Widow

He got that WACK ass costume

Young black kids don't look at Sam Wilson and want to emulate that, and the adults are more vocal about calling him corny

And this is coming from somebody that liked the show and defended Sam for months

A LOT of people forget that no one really fukked with Cap until after Winter Soldier. That was the film that really made people fall in love with the character.

So it really depends on what they do with Sam in this one.

My son dressed as Falcon for halloween and loved having his figures. He doesn't seem as interested in "Cap Sam".

It's not about picking on him it's just calling it for what it is

I liked Falcon and Winter Soldier but I had to find out from other nikkas how much they think Sam is a a cornball and how kids don't want to be him

At the end of the day Sam as an entity is not as assertive as Steve Rogers was. People notice that, especially kids

War machine
Kate bishop
Yelena
Captain marvel
Monica
Nick fury(Sam is old though this might be why)
I think in this one they’ll give him one but I honestly don’t know who they’ll give him.
He was a side character until very recently so it makes sense why he didn’t have one.
Wanda was the only side character that had a romance because the vision story was important.
Unless you just want to see Sam sleeping around or something.
