Joe Quesada Says Marvel Studios Has the Rights to Namor

Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada has now indicated that Marvel Studios has the rights back for its first mutant, Namor The Sub-Mariner -- a character whose film/TV rights Kevin Feige previously called "complicated."

Appearing on the Fat Man on Batman podcast, interviewer Kevin Smith asked Quesada, "...The same people that own Iron Man, own the Sub-Mariner?"

Quesada replied, "I can't speak for studios...As far as I know, yeah we do. It’s not at Fox, it’s not at Sony...Yeah."

As for the possibility of seeing Namor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe sometime soon, Quesada said, "I cannot confirm or deny, sir."

First off... this is the only Illuminati roster that matters



For obvious reasons... and i'm not talkin about the gems

Second, I'd been hoping that Universal would strike a deal since, shyt, any solo plans they'd have for Namor would be expensive as fukk with the scale and scope needed to make it visually appealing, plus the time needed to cultivate the obscure characters in his mytho. It'd be much easier to just give it to Disney and collect checks while the MCU does the heavy lifting.

And since they all debuted in Fantastic Four, It'd be fitting that Black Panther, Reed Richards, Black Bolt and Namor formed their own Illuminati team in the MCU, with Dr. Strange added to them b/c he fits the bill.

In the comics tho, yea... Namor and BP got beef. shytty writing caused it but tis what it tis.
